To Flirt Or Not To Flirt At The Office Christmas Party

[To flirt or not to flirt at the office Christmas party.  The following guide offers advice and helps you decide whether or not you should flirt at your office Christmas party.]

It's the dating dilemma that surfaces every year at this time.  

The office Christmas party is just around the corner and you are wondering whether to grab the opportunity to go after that sexy colleague.  (S)he has been sending lingering glances your way; talking and joking around with you a little more than other people at the office; and her/his smiles are over the top with seduction.  Oh, how tantalizing.

After checking out your company's policy on inter-office dating, you have to ask yourself a couple of questions to help you decide whether you will take the plunge and become romantically involved, or to keep it platonic, regardless of the seductive vibes:

1.  If the relationship doesn't work out, will you be able to handle seeing and interacting with her/him around the office on a daily basis?

2.  If this person ended up flirting/dating with another co-worker after you break up, would you be able to tolerate seeing their interactions?

3.  Often gossip about your dating/breaking up with that person would circulate around your workplace.  Would that be something that would bother you to a great degree?

4.  If the relationship was a keeper, could you interact/work with this person on a daily basis during the ups and downs of the course of a normal relationship? 

The bottom line is really your career and job.  You need to feel comfortable enough in the workplace to produce quality work that will keep you in your job.  You also need to feel comfortable going to that workplace so that you are happy to go to the office ... not dreading facing an awkward, or even painful situation if things don't work out between you and your sexy co-worker.

Once you have answered these questions for yourself, you will be a lot more prepared going to that office Christmas party.  Smart - and possibly fun.

Or, you could just throw caution to the wind and dive in with passionate abandon, whatever the outcome.  And that's just plain fun.
